Communicating with non-verbal

 persons thru muscle testing

     In the College of Self-Healing we say, "If you can self-heal by testing thru your difficulty, you can solve problems everywhere else in your life as well."

A dramatic example of this beneficial side-effect; that is, of learning how to test your way thru life issues, is communicating with non-verbal persons.

It is entirely possible to communicate with non-verbal persons--on bathroom, food and a large fraction of issues--thru muscle testing.

My experience is mostly with non-verbal K-12 children but from my time with non-verbal and developmentally disabled adults, the opportunities are exactly the same.

Parents of non-verbal children naturally wish to communicate with their child on health, nutrition and acute emotional questions.

When they can't or won't speak, it's possible to communicate with their immune system directly thru testing.

Testing protocols per se will not be the subject of this article. For training in testing protocols see my DVD, Muscle Testing Practice Group

Q: WHY do we want to communicate with the child's immune system???

A: We want to communicate with the immune system because the immune system...

-is functionally the same as the inner child in children age seven or younger;

-is the intelligence of the physical, energetic and imaginal bodies, the main bodies active in children birth thru age seven; and, active as a support system thruout life;

-can "talk" in a limited way, thru usually kinesthetic and auditory channels, and can also count to ten;

-is highly intuitive and responds to pictures.

Q: How do I talk with the immune system/inner child?

A: Very easy, you communicate with it thru your own immune system/inner child.

Q: How do I talk with my own immune system/inner child?

A: Very easy. You work thru these steps we teach in the College:

Self-sensitivity -> self-trust -> Intuition ->

testing -> practice -> practice -> practice

The short version of talking to a non-verbal child is first you learn how to talk with your own inner child. Treat this as a series of experiments. "Experiments" means it's OK to fail. Failure simply tells you, "try a new approach," or, "try again later." Experiments are more fun with at least one other person. So do get support for trying new things.

The process and technique for talking with your own inner child, are equally valid for talking to any non-verbal portion of your own body or psyche.

This is what chiropractors, energetic healers and anyone proficient at testing do in therapeutic situations: they ask questions of the non-verbal part they wish to contact, listen for responses, and interpret these into language useful to the conscious self.

This is a very natural process and we already do it ALL the time.

Q: Well, I don't talk to my inner child! That's foolish!

A: Really? Then how do you know when to eat? You know when to eat when your body tells you, you are hungry. THAT'S COMMUNICATION.

How do you know when to go to the bathroom? You know when to go to the bathroom when your body tells you it's full; THAT'S COMMUNICATION.

How do you "talk" to your non verbal child about when they need to go to the bathroom? YOU ASK THEIR INNER CHILD.

Unless the inner child is out to trick you, sabotage the relationship, or withhold information--rare but more common with special needs kids, the inner child will tell you truthfully if it needs to go to the bathroom. It helps to phrase questions simply: yes or no.

Q: But I ask my non-verbal child all the time if he wants to go to the bathroom and never get an answer!!!???

A: I understand how frustrating this is. I have been there many times. Here's what I've learned from watching people who handle this successfully.  I've observed in several places. One was residential communities for developmentally disabled children and adults, the Camphill Movement, begun by Rudolf Steiner;

http://www.beaverrun.org/homepage/home.php

Another was substituting in 50 special ed classrooms as teacher or aide. Then, teaching severely autistic K-12 kids for four years, with up to 8 1:1 aides in the room with me daily. Success with communicating with non-verbal kids seems to largely hinge on distinguishing the difference between two forms of communication:

There is a big difference between addressing your non-verbal child as a conscious self; and,

addressing your non-verbal child as a basic self.

Addressing your question to your child's conscious self, is the adult form of communication. If you ask me, another adult, "Do you need to go to the bathroom?" My consciouses self reports the facts as they are to you.

Yet this is THE most common problem with adult-to-child communication, assuming the child will communicate in adult form, adult to adult, c/s to c/s. When the child is also non-verbal, poor communication is compounded!

Q: What works better?

A: What very often, not always, works better with children younger than age seven, and non-verbal children of any age, is addressing bathroom questions to their inner child, their basic self and immune system.

At least two ways exist to address the b/s:

You can address their b/s from your conscious self; or,

You can address their b/s from your basic self!

That's it, the rest is practice, practice, practice!

 Food  Issues

     After bathroom issues, food issues are likely to be the next most meaningful issues for parents of non-verbal children.

The inner child is the PRIMARY part of us who knows what will and will not work for the physical body.

The inner child is THE expert on the physical body, not the conscious self.

This is equally true for adults as it is for children.

Q: So how do you do it?

A: Same way as always:

Self-sensitivity -> self-trust -> Intuition ->

testing -> practice -> practice -> practice

Communicating with your own inner child is a large fraction of what's involved in becoming your own doctor, a challenge John-Roger put out to me and others, many years ago, that I decided to take him up on.

When clients ask me, "What is best for my body?" I ASK THEIR BODY. If they are open, I show them how to do this themself.

Unconditional love opens up

the book of the basic self.

If you use love, and ask from your inner child to their inner child, you will get a response. This is what the most successful parents of non-verbal children ARE ALREADY DOING. They may or may not know they are doing this. But you can see how this makes good intuitive sense and can easily develop into an instinct in parents.

Q: Where can I learn more about communicating with my own inner child?

A: Inner child guided visualization from Shakti Gawain book, print version:

http://innerself.ca/html/meditation/awareness/contacting-your-inner-child.html

Also possibly useful are the three circle diagrams from Transactional Analysis. See an animated diagram at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transactional_analysis

tho I'm doubtful any TA book has much applicability for the present topic.

I do recommend

The College of Self-Healing curriculum was created because no orderly, sequential, effective teaching method for learning testing had yet been developed, tho most of the pieces were visible.

One key was harnessing testing to personal and especially spiritual growth. The few other programs, known to me, developed independently, that converge testing with personal and spiritual growth have much the same thrust as the College.

Other books that MAY be useful, that you can find at the library or cheaply thru AllBookStores.com include:

Inner Bonding by Margaret Paul (about five books in her series. Free stuff at InnerBonding.com)

The Secret Science at Work by Long (Recommended by John-Roger. All about using the pendulum to communicate with the inner child. This title is highly recommended over his many other titles).
